Q. What kind of computer do I need to run JewelCAD?

A. Detailed information on computer requirements can be found on the Computer Requirements page. Basically, any standard computer these days is sufficient to run JewelCAD. Of course, the faster the computer, the better the program runs.

Q. How long does it take to draw a ring?

A. This depends on what kind of ring it is: a plain wedding band could take less than 1/2 an hour, whereas a claddagh could take over three hours. The more experience you have the less time the drawing takes.

Q. I'm having trouble with a drawing, how do I get help?

A. If you have bought a software package from Facet Manufacturing, support is included in the package. We can be contacted by Email or phone. Also we can provide "top up" training through our online training program. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Q. The ring is drawn, now what?

A. A fully rendered picture (Example) can be printed to show the customer for approval. As the picture is EXACTLY what will be made, this eliminates post-production rejection. Once the customer has approved of the design, the file is sliced (like a CT scan) and downloaded into a Rapid Prototyping machine (eg. Solidscape ModelMakerII) to produce a model.

Q. How can I have my design Produced?

A. Facet have a RP Bureau Service running. The JewelCAD files can be emailed to us be printed in wax and returned in around 2 - 4days. All designs sent to us remain the intellectual property of the customer.
